Evolution of some liver function markers after treatment in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder

Introduction The prevalence of alterations liver function tests in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorders is not well known. These are often considered as side effects medication Objectives Our study aimed to evaluate compare before after treatment (SCZ), schizo-affective disorder (SCA) (BD). Methods This was a prospective among SCZ, SCA BD according DSM-5 criteria. Patients, from the “C” psychiatry department Hedi Chaker University Hospital Sfax, were assessed during both acute remission phases their illness. phase (T0) assessment made drug-free june 2016 july 2018. As for (T1), it between november 2019 march 2020. Blood performed Laboratory Biochemistry at Habib Bourguiba Sfax. Clinical biological parameters compared those healthy controls. Biological consisted mainly Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Alanine (ALT) Albumine. Results Thirty included our study. Their mean age 35.83 ± 12.24 years they all males. They suffered SCZ 33.33% cases, 26.66% cases 40% cases. Psychoactive substance use common 80% patients.
